OUR SERVICES

  • Comprehensive Hearing Aid Evaluations
The standard audiometric test battery includes air, bone and speech testing. Special tests may also include tympanometry, tone decay or short increment sensitivity index testing. With appropriate modifications, these tests may be effectively administered to infants, children and adults. The information obtained allows the audiologist to determine the presence or absence of hearing loss, the type of hearing loss, the most appropriate referral path, and/or the extent to which hearing aid use may be beneficial.

  • Electronystagmography (ENG)
ENG is a neurodiagnostic procedure that evaluates the balance function of the inner ear. It is often ordered by physicians for patients who are experiencing problems with balance, lightheadedness, dizziness or vertigo.

  • Auditory Brainstem Response testing (ABR)
This procedure measures the electrophysical response to sound at the level of the brainstem. It is diagnostic tool used to identify auditory impairment in infants, children and adults.

  • Hearing Aids
Southern Tier Audiology is multi-brand hearing aid dispensing practice. Hearing aids are available in a wide range of sizes, colors and circuit options. The type and style of hearing aid we recommend depends on the individual needs of each person. We consider degree of hearing loss, physical size of the ear canal, manual dexterity, vision, and cosmetic requirements. A comprehensive hearing evaluation is required before we can make an appropriate hearing aid recommendation.

Per New York State law, all hearing aids dispensed on a minimum of a 45-day trial basis. If a hearing aid trial is unsuccessful, a full refund is provided

  • Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs)
These devices may be used instead of or in addition to hearing aids. They include one-to-one communication devices, personal FM systems, telephone amplifiers, TV listening systems, visual or tactile alerting systems, and more.

  • Battery Club Program
Our Battery Club is a pre-paid, discounted hearing aid battery program. At a cost of $37.50, 10 packages of zinc air batteries (4 batteries per package) are applied to your account. When you need batteries, simply call the office and our staff will mail them to you that day. Of course, you are always welcome to stop in to see us and pick up your batteries in person if you prefer.
