Pure-tone Air and Bone conduction testing
This type of test uses earphones to determine the faintest tones a person can hear in either ear at selected pitches (frequencies). The audiologist will ask the individual to either raise his or her hand or press a button if a sound is heard. The results of this test are recorded on the audiogram, which helps the hearing healthcare professional determine whether a hearing loss, if present, originates from the outer/middle ear or inner ear.
